Ideally located in the centre of Manhattan’s fashionable East Side the Doubletree Metropolitan by Hilton is a magnificent modern landmark hotel. It also happens to be within walking distance of Park and Madison Avenues, the Broadway theatre district and New York’s world-class shopping centre.
The hotel was originally designed by the modernist architect Morris Lapidus and his iconoclastic design can be seen in both the inside and exterior of the building. The hotel has also played host to its own little bit of Hollywood history. In 1955 during filming of the Seven Year Itch Marilyn Monroe was posing in front of the hotel when a sudden gust of wind blew her halter dress upwards and thus an iconic image was born.
The resort provides a host of services to ensure guests enjoy their stay. These include foreign currency exchange, a barber shop and a babysitting service to ensure you get to spend a little bit of time exploring by yourself. There’s also a fitness room and guided sightseeing tours for those who wish to understand the city just that bit more. Within the hotel is the Met Lounge, a stylish bar serving delicious drinks and a selection of delectable cuisines.
The Doubletree Metropolitan also provides the ideal location for any business related event with 12,000 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting and banquet space able to accommodate up to 500 people.
Please Note: Room service at the Doubletree Metropolitan Hotel will be temporarily closed beginning January 26, 2015 until further notice.
