We loved how the overall look-&-feel of The Ritz-Carlton Langkawi stays true to its local heritage, using design touches and materials that reflect a traditional kampong village. The limited number of guest rooms and suites – 90 in total, plus 29 villas – means The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi enjoys a more intimate atmosphere than one might expect from a big-brand hotelier. It’s a pleasant surprise. The reduced number of accommodations also belies the fact that the in-resort facilities are so wide-ranging. Three swimming pools, three restaurants, two beachfront bars & lounges, two wedding venues and a locally inspired spa allow guests to enjoy the benefits of excellent dining and leisure choice, without the hustle and bustle of a bigger resort. Families will be keen to learn The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi provides generous children’s amenities too, including: complimentary kids’ welcome pack with a Bernard the Hornbill name tag, tote bag and Bernard the Hornbill soft toy; dedicated young VIP check-in desk; kids under 12 sharing room with parents enjoy complimentary extra bed and breakfast (up to two kids).

Off-resort, the adventurous guest is spoilt for choice for new experiences. As a 99-island archipelago in the Andaman Sea, Langkawi's position creates lots of opportunities for watersports, and the area around The Ritz-Carlton is no different. Kayaking, white water rafting, waterfall hikes and water skiing are all available on excursion. Slightly less adventurous but still great fun, we enjoyed shopping for ceramics and beadworks on a curated excursion to a local night market.

The food at The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi

From haute cuisine to beach grills, the restaurants at The Ritz-Carlton Langkawi appeal to foodies and casual diners alike. Langkawi Kitchen is a breakfast and dinner venue with a relaxed vibe that specialises in authentic Malay cooking alongside Chinese and Indian dishes. The Beach Grill supplies sunbathers with cocktails and light bites throughout the day, while for a more refined setting, book in at Haiyan. This exclusive oceanfront restaurant is known for its Chinese seafood, inviting ambience and 180° views of the Andaman Sea. Horizon, the resort’s upcoming Thai-fusion restaurant, is set to open soon.
